Case registered against man for murder of wife over property dispute
Mumbai: A 40-year-old man was booked for allegedly murdering his wife and attempting to murder his brother over a property dispute on Friday.
Controversy arose when accused Dressen Diza’s brother Damien decided to sell their parents’ house, a move supported by Dressen’s wife Chitra Diza. In anger, Dressen attacked both of them with a pot, seriously injuring them. After committing the crime the accused fled from the spot.

Damian’s wife Bindu Dija (42) lodged a first information report (FIR) and a case was registered under sections 302 (murder) and 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code at Bangur Nagar police station on Friday. The Diza family lives as a joint family in Padmanagar, Malad West. Along with Bindu and her ailing husband Damien, the family includes Dressen Diza, Chitra Diza and their two-month-old daughter. While Bindu’s husband was suffering from diabetes and kidney failure, Chitra was the only one earning by working in a private company. The family’s primary source of income was the rent of an ancestral building on Marve Road.

Bindu and her husband decide to sell the building to meet rising medical expenses and Chitra supports this decision. However, Dressen strongly opposed the sale, leading to frequent disputes within the Diza family. Dressen, known for his short temper, had previously assaulted Chitra over her support for the sale. Bindu and her husband often confined themselves to their bedroom due to Drayson’s unstable behavior.
On Friday, Bindu left for work at 9:45 am. Receiving a call from her maid at 12:52 pm, she reached home and found her husband and Chitra seriously injured, lying in a pool of blood. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot. Chitra was taken to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali West and declared dead after investigation, while Damien was taken to Oscar Super Specialist Hospital in Goregaon West, where he is in coma.
Senior police inspector Pramod Tawde of Bangur Nagar police station said, “The accused Dressen Diza is out of reach, he has switched off all his mobile phones. Five teams of Bangur Nagar police are currently engaged in the search operation.”
