Case registered against two for assault
Phagwara: Nakodar City Police has booked two people for assaulting their aunt. Police said the suspects have been identified as Harman, a resident of Navi Abadi, Nakodar, and his unidentified accomplice. Prince, a resident of Partab Pura village under Sadar Jamsher police station, told the police that the suspects stopped him on the way. They brutally beat and threatened him near a dairy in Nakodar on May 6. He suffered serious injuries. A case has been registered under sections 323, 324, 506 and 34 of IPC.
1 arrested under Excise Act
Phagwara: Lohian Khas police has arrested a person for making illegal country liquor. Investigating officer Major Singh said that the suspect has been identified as Charanjit Singh, resident of Pipli village. Lahan and storage/liquor making utensils were recovered from his possession. A case has been registered against the suspect under sections 61, 1 and 14 of the Excise Act. IO Sulinder Singh said that Shahkot police has registered a case against Gurnam Singh, a resident of Thamu Wal village, for selling poisonous liquor.
FCI employees will take to the protest path
Phagwara: If long pending demands are not accepted, all members of FCI Executive Employees Union will start ‘Work to Rule’ from June 24. A decision to this effect was taken in the meeting held here on Sunday. The meeting was presided over by the union’s national president HS Chattha. The union members will protest at all the district headquarters during the lunch break on May 21 and will demonstrate in support of their demands on June 5. They will also protest in front of regional offices on June 12 and in front of regional offices from June 19 to June 21. Their major demands include ‘Railway Transit Loss’ and amendment in the transfer policy.
2 criminals were caught
Phagwara: Police arrested two miscreants on Saturday night and recovered the snatched mobile phone from their possession. Satnampura SHO Gaurav Dheer said the suspects have been identified as Happy alias Dholi, resident of Hadiabad, and Pawan alias Pamma, resident of Chhaj Colony, Phagwara. The suspects were produced before a judicial magistrate who sent them on two-day police remand for further questioning.
One person arrested with 500 grams of ganja
Phagwara: Satnampura police arrested a drug smuggler on Saturday night and recovered 500 grams of ganja from his possession. Superintendent of Police Rupinder Kaur Bhatti said the suspect has been identified as Kabul Kumar, who is a migrant from Bihar and currently resides in Nanak Nagari, Phagwara. He was caught at a check-point near Law Gate, Miheru. SP Bhatti said that a case has been registered against the suspect under the NDPS Act.
