Cash rewards given to sanitation workers in Chennai
CHENNAI: Minister Principal MK Stalin on Tuesday launched the distribution of 4,000 impactful awards and recognition certificates to conservation workers cleaning garbage in Chennai after Cyclone Michong. At a function organized by the Municipal Administration Department at Ripon Bhavan, Stalin presented recognition certificates and awards to 15 workers.
3,449 workers were brought to Chennai from Tirunelveli, Madurai, Thanjavur, Vellore, Salem, Tiruppur, Chengalpattu, Coimbatore, Erode and Trichy districts. Additionally, a total of 841 additional conservation staff are being deployed in areas such as Tambaram Corporation, Avadi Corporation and adjacent local areas.
According to a press release, a total of 46.727 metric tonnes of waste was removed from the company’s limits. Ministers KN Nehru, PK Shekharbabu, Chennai Corporation Chairman R Priya and other elected representatives and officials of the municipal administration were also present on the occasion.
