Cattle smuggling, police arrested the absconding accused
Raigarh. Gharghoda police has arrested Khileshwar Das Bairagi, accused of illegal cattle smuggling, who was absconding in an old case, and sent him on judicial remand. In this case, 6 cattle and a Mahindra pickup vehicle had already been seized.
On 22 October 2024, Mustakim Khan (father: Shamim Khan, age: 32 years, resident: Ward No. 02, Gharghoda) lodged a report at Gharghoda police station that on the night of 20 October 2024, he was at Kanchanpur intersection of Gharghoda-Dharamjaygarh road with his companions Bharat Nirala and Sonu Khan. He saw that cattle were being mercilessly loaded in a Mahindra pickup vehicle (number CG-13-AD-6314) and taken from Raigarh to Pathalgaon. On trying to stop the pickup vehicle, the driver fled by leaving the vehicle under the bridge near Barghat SECL Colony. 6 cattle were tied with ropes in the vehicle and were in a very hungry and thirsty condition.
On the complaint of Mustakim Khan, a case was registered in police station Gharghoda under crime number 303/2024 under section 4, 6, 10 CG Krishak Pashu Parikshan Act 2004 and investigation was started. Police seized 6 cattle and Mahindra pickup vehicle from the spot and kept the cattle safe in the surrender deed. During investigation, police was searching for accused Khileshwar Das Bairagi father Dhruvdas Bairagi age 21 years resident Kodatarai Gohdidipa police station Jutmil Raigarh, who was absconding since the incident. Today, on the basis of intensive search and information from the informer, the accused was arrested from his residence. During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime. Police also seized the keys of the vehicle from the accused and he was sent on judicial remand.
