Censor clearance for ‘The Kerala Story 2’.. U/A certificate issued amidst controversies

The Supreme Court has imposed restrictions on the title of Manoj Bajpayee’s film ‘Ghooskhor Pandat’, while the line has been cleared for the release of another controversial film ‘The Kerala Story 2’. The Censor Board (CBFC) has issued a ‘U/A’ certificate to the film. The film’s team has announced that this has given the opportunity to watch the film for people above 14 years of age. Reacting to this decision, the film’s producer Vipul Amritlal Shah said that the Censor Board believed in the honesty of their story and he thanked the board members.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has already strongly criticized the film, which deals with sensitive issues like religious conversion. He described it as ‘hate propaganda’ that is defaming the state. He alleged that such films are trying to damage the secular tradition of Kerala. However, producer Vipul Shah believes that the film is intended to educate young women and families, which is why the censor board has responded positively. Directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh, the film, starring Ulka Gupta, Aditi Bhatia and Aishwarya Ojha in the lead roles, is produced by Vipul Shah. The film is scheduled to release worldwide on February 27, 2026.
