Center is not allowing Kerala to improve relations with foreign countries: CM Vijayan

Thiruvananthapuram (IANS). Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday criticized the Center for its negative attitude towards the state, especially on improving Kerala’s relations with foreign countries.

“There are many foreign countries which have good relations with Kerala, but the Center does not give us the leverage and freedom to improve existing relations,” Vijayan said.

Vijayan said, “Permission to organize the Abu Dhabi Marathon was refused. The Centre’s attitude is that nothing good should happen in Kerala.”

Then expressing his anger towards Congress and BJP, he said that both of them tried their best to tarnish the image of the ruling Left in the 2021 assembly elections.

“But all the defamation campaigns were paid no attention,” Vijayan said. The Congress party never worked for the welfare of the state. He took the help of the state BJP to contact the Centre, which sent several central agencies here. ,

After this he said that BJP is unable to hold on in Kerala because the Left party led by CPI(M) is working strongly against it.

“The game plan is to weaken the Left and with that Congress will come to power and once that happens, BJP will take over,” Vijayan said.

State Congress President K. Sudhakaran, reacting to the Chief Minister’s statement, said that till date Vijayan has not uttered a single word against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “They are the ones who have secret links with the BJP and hence they are being protected in cases like SNC Lavalin, the hearing of which has been adjourned nearly three dozen times over the years,” he said.
