Central agencies should not obstruct electoral process: Trinamool tells Election Commission

Trinamool Congress on Monday urged the Election Commission to ensure that central agencies do not obstruct the electoral process.

The TMC delegation also appealed to the commission to ensure that “central forces are not pressurized by the BJP”.
Terming BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari a “habitual criminal”, TMC asked Election Commission members to “keep a close watch” on him.
The party demanded that Lok Sabha elections for 42 parliamentary seats of West Bengal should not be held in phases but on a single day.

The party delegation met the full bench of the Election Commission here and said that the Commission should accept 11 voter ID cards on the day of polling.
The Election Commission bench led by Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar, who is in the state, held meetings with representatives of political parties during the day.
An official said the Election Commission team will also hold talks with district magistrates, superintendents of police and other state government officials.
He said that Chief Electoral Officer Ariz Aftab, Chief Secretary BP Gopalika and DGP Rajiv Kumar will also be met.
