Central Railway has expanded its freight basket by starting the loading of bauxite and acacia pulp.

Maharashtra: Central Railway’s Mumbai Division has expanded its freight portfolio by commencing the loading of two new commodities – bauxite and imported bleached hardwood craft acacia pulp. This expansion is a significant step towards increasing freight loading volumes and boosting revenue for the division.
Freight earnings contribute 33% to the Mumbai Division’s total revenue.
Bauxite Loading Commences from Uran
Central Railway has made a successful start in bauxite loading by dispatching the first rake from the Uran Goods Shed in the Mumbai Division. On January 19, 2026, M/s Ultratech Cement Limited loaded the first rake of bauxite from Uran Goods Shed to UTCM (M/s Rajshree Cement Works), Malkhed, South Central Railway.
This loading has generated freight revenue of Rs. 52.38 lakh per rake, with an expected volume of 2 to 3 rakes per month. The Uran Goods Shed, which was inaugurated on November 29, 2024, has already handled 21 rakes of Carbon Black Feed Stock (CBFS) and 21 rakes of cement and clinker.
