Chaitanya Baghel released from jail, Congressmen carried him on their shoulders and rejoiced.

Raipur. Chaitanya Baghel, son of former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, has been granted bail by the High Court in the money laundering case related to the Chhattisgarh liquor scam. Following the completion of the legal process, Baghel has been released from Raipur Central Jail after approximately 170 days. Congress leaders and workers gathered outside the jail, with drums being played to welcome him.
Prior to Chaitanya’s release, Bhupesh Baghel held a press conference, stating that he was arrested on July 18th, his birthday. He is being released today on his grandson’s birthday. Bhupesh Baghel has arrived to receive his son. The arrests stem from cases filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Chhattisgarh Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB/EOW). The ED arrested Chaitanya in July last year in connection with a money laundering investigation, while the ACB arrested him in September in a corruption case while he was already in jail.
According to investigating agencies, this scam occurred between 2019 and 2022, causing significant losses to the government treasury. The ED alleges that Chaitanya Baghel was the patron of this entire liquor syndicate. He personally handled transactions worth approximately ₹1,000 crore. Furthermore, the ACB claims that Chaitanya Baghel received a share of ₹200 to ₹250 crore, and the total amount of this entire scam could exceed ₹3,200 crore.
