CHANDIGARH: Vedant ahead in open category of chess competition

Vedant Garg led the way by scoring three points in the Open category during the 11th Chandigarh Chess Academy Open and Children’s Prize Money Chess Festival at Learning Paths School, Mohali.

After Garg, Pramod Kumar, Avneet Singh, Rohit Roy Choudhary and Abir Manchanda also scored three points. In the Open Under-13 category, Sameer Singh Gill led the way with three points, followed by Single Tarosh and Dishant Bansal. Sukant Mohindra, Vivaan Mittal and Soham Raskit also scored three points.

In the Open Under-9 category, Tavish Bansal, Prabhav Atwal and Lakshiv Mittal scored three points each.

A total of 160 players from different states of North India are participating in the championship. Additionally, 34 internationally rated players are also competing in the tournament.
