Chandrababu Naidu accused AP government
Guntur: Former chief minister and TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday alleged that despite adequate warnings about Cyclone Michong, the YSR Congress Party-led Andhra Pradesh government has not taken “any preventive measures” to check the damage.
Naidu said here, “Natural disasters are quite common but the damage caused by cyclone Michong was also due to human error. “Despite adequate warnings about the cyclone, the state government has not taken any preventive measures to prevent damage.”
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national president alleged that farmers in the state have suffered huge losses not only due to natural disasters like Cyclone Michong but also due to the apathy of the YSRCP government towards them.
After visiting damaged crops in Maikong cyclone affected areas like Revendrapadu and Nandivelugu in Guntur district, Chandrababu said most of the farmers did not cultivate any crop due to severe drought conditions in the state, while those who did grow crops , they suffered loss. To the cyclone.
The TDP supremo claimed that most of those whose crops were destroyed are tenant farmers who have spent around Rs 40,000 per acre, including Rs 20,000 on lease.
Chandrababu claimed, “Neither gunny bags have been supplied to the farmers nor has even a single rupee been spent on repairing the drains in the last four years, due to which the standing crops are getting damaged due to the heavy flow of drain water in the fields. It is done.”
The former chief minister expressed concern that although the entire farming community is suffering huge losses, “there has been no movement from the government machinery so far.” He asked, did even a single farmer get crop insurance, as the insurance facility for Kharif should have been finalized by July 15 itself.
Chandrababu said that much before the opposition party leaders, the Chief Minister should have personally visited the farmers and known about their problems. He alleged that Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy was on a visit to Tirupati when the cyclone crossed the coast near Bapatla.
Claiming that the per acre input subsidy was increased from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 during the TDP regime in 2014, Chandrababu asked what CM Jagan has done for farmers in five years. “Did he (CM) pay input subsidy to the farmers,” Naidu asked.
Chandrababu alleged, “I have been sent to jail by making a false case, whereas I have not committed any mistake in my 45 years of political career. I have suffered a lot mentally for no fault of my own.” His voice on the government’s failures is being “harassed by imposing false cases.”
“What happened to those who acted arbitrarily in Telangana?” Pointing out the defeat of the BRS government in the neighboring state in the recently concluded assembly elections, Chandrababu Naidu said a similar situation would be repeated in the state.
Alleging that Andhra Pradesh tops the list in terms of debt and ranks second in suicides by tenant farmers, he demanded proper compensation to farmers who suffered crop losses in the cyclone.
Assuring the farming community that he will stand with them, Chandrababu asked the farmers to fight for justice.
Naidu assured farmers, “If the state government does not respond now, wait for three months. I will take personal responsibility so that you get compensation.” He alleged that the Chief Minister has no sympathy for the farming community.
