Charges framed against Imran Khan in Toshakhana case

Islamabad (IANS) | Chairman Imran Khan was indicted in the Toshakhana case by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday, a day after he was arrested from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) premises in connection with the Al-Qadir Trust case. This information was given by the local media. The accountability court reserved its verdict on NAB’s plea seeking 14-day remand of former Pakistan prime minister Khan. Both the hearings took place at the Islamabad Police Line, which was given court venue status late on Monday night, Dawn reported.

Additional and District Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar presided over the hearing related to the Toshakhana case.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) sought action against the PTI chief under criminal law. As reported by Dawn, the ECP had approached the court on the matter last year on a reference filed by MPs of the ruling coalition.

Dawn reported that the reference alleged that Imran had deliberately concealed the details of the gifts kept from the Toshakhana during his time as prime minister.

Meanwhile, the accountability court reserved its verdict on the anti-corruption watchdog’s request for Khan’s 14-day remand.

PTI chairman’s counsel Khwaja Harris opposed the request and said the matter does not come under the purview of the bureau. He said that NAB had also not shared the probe report.
