Chennai: Annamalai expressed grief over the demise of DMDK chief Vijayakanth
Chennai: Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief K Annamalai on Thursday expressed grief over the demise of DMDK chief and actor Vijayakanth.
Annamalai said, “Deeply saddened to hear the demise of DMDK leader, respected Captain Vijayakanth. Born in the South East, he is proud to have built the South Indian film industry. A gentleman who quenched the hunger of poor workers.” Said in a post on X.
“An amazing artist who is loved by the Tamil people all over the world. A selfless leader. His goal is only the welfare of the Tamil people. A word is not an action, a man who lives up to his words. A humble man, ” Annamalai added. ‘Captain’ Vijayakanth passed away at the age of 71 in Chennai after testing positive for Covid-19 earlier in the day.
Describing Vijayakanth’s demise as a loss to Tamil Nadu and its people, Annamalai said, “Though his life is gone from us, his fame will live on in his name. On behalf of the Tamil Nadu BJP, I convey my condolences to the family, friends, Express my deepest condolences.” , DMD volunteers and the public who are bereaved by Capt. I pray to God that his soul reaches God.
Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramaniam has reached Vijayakanth’s house in Chennai.
Vijayakanth’s mortal remains were brought to his residence and will be taken to the DMDK office soon.
Vijayakanth, popularly known as ‘Captain’, has a successful career in the Tamil film industry.
He founded Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam in 2005. Vijayakanth served as the Leader of the Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from 2011–2016.
He also served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly twice, representing Virudhachalam and Rishivandiam constituencies.
