CHENNAI: Madhavaram Dairy has stopped production, milk supply will not be available in some areas of Chennai
Chennai: Aavin milk distribution in CHENNAI is likely to face significant disruptions, as production at Madhavaram Dairy has come to a halt, according to reports. As a result, milk delivery vehicles have been halted at the Madhavaram Dairy premises, reports Daily Thanthi. The disruption threatens the distribution of 2 lakh litres of Aavin milk to areas like Kolathur, Minjur, Vyasarpadi, Manali, Ennore, Purasawalkam, Perambur, Choolaimedu, Parrys Corner, where milk may not reach today.
Milk agents said milk vehicles scheduled to leave for delivery by 7 am did not leave today, and even if production resumes, distribution in the affected areas may be possible only after 11 am. Madhavaram Dairy produces 4.50 lakh litres of packet milk per day, while Ambattur Dairy produces 4.20 lakh litres. The disruption has also affected milk supply in other districts. The production of Aavin milk packets has been further hampered due to shortage of workers.
