Chief Minister said- CPM organizations are not working as inter-religious marriage bureau
Kochi: Kerala minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday said if a man and a woman are young and decide to get married, irrespective of their caste or the woman, no one can stop the relationship.
Vijayan said that such marriages have always been opposed by both the parties or the fathers of both the families, but this has not stopped those marriages.
The CM on Wednesday responded to journalists’ questions regarding a prominent Islamic scholar who had “accused” the ruling CPM and its teenage groups of promoting interfaith marriages and mixed cultures in the name of secularism.
Vijayan said neither the CPM’s student wing SFI nor the Left party’s youth group DYFI, were functioning as “interfaith marriage offices”.
“These changes are happening with time and no organization or government is doing anything to achieve these changes,” he said.
