Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai reviewed the working of Mineral Department
Raipur: Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has said that the DMF amount should be used for the mining affected people. This amount should be spent on priority in meeting the basic needs of the affected people like education, health, drinking water. Chief Minister Shri Sai said this while holding a meeting of Mineral Department officials at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan today and reviewing the departmental work and activities. Chief Minister Shri Sai took detailed information from the officials about the departmental work including storage, excavation, use and supply of minerals in the state. On this occasion, Chief Minister’s Secretary P. Dayanand and Dr. Basavaraju S. Be present. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai told the officials that Chhattisgarh has huge reserves of mineral resources.
The state also earns huge revenue from this. The state is leading in meeting the mineral needs of the country. We have to promote better utilization of resources by preparing an action plan. There is a need to ensure that these resources get proper benefit for the development of the country as well as the state. Chief Minister Shri Sai took information from the officials regarding the storage of precious minerals like gold and diamonds, lithium, uranium, graphite and coal bed methane etc. He also discussed the departmental role in assessing the availability of minerals and in the process of excavation. Shri Sai said that storage of rare earth elements is also available in the state, effective steps should be taken towards their excavation. Chief Minister Shri Sai also took information from the officials about the storage of mineral coal available in maximum quantity in Chhattisgarh and its supply. He also discussed the procedures to be followed for the excavation of minor minerals available in the state. Senior officials of the Mineral Department were present in the meeting.
