Child dies in canal, drowns himself while saving friend

Janjgir-Champa. The body of a child was found trapped in a pillar under the bridge built in Hasdev Canal near the IB Rest House of the district. The deceased child has been identified as Sameer Sarathi (10 years) of Pantor village. At around 11 am on Saturday morning, people bathing in the canal saw the body of a child trapped in the pillar of the bridge over the canal. After post-mortem the body will be handed over to the relatives.

It is being told that Sameer Sarathi had jumped into the canal to save the life of his friend who was drowning while bathing in the canal. Due to this he died due to drowning in water. The body of Sameer Sarathi has been recovered by the police from the canal. The family members of the deceased child have been informed. After taking Panchnama action, the dead body has been sent to District Hospital Janjgir for post-mortem.

Let us tell you that around 11 am on Saturday morning, people taking bath in the canal saw that a child was stuck in a dead state in the pillar of the bridge over the canal. People informed the city police station about this. City Kotwali police reached the spot and took out the body from the canal with the help of a city police diver. Pantora police and family members have been informed about the discovery of the child’s body.
