‘Cleanliness is service’ has become ‘people’s movement’ in Jammu and Kashmir: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha
Srinagar (IANS). Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has said that the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign has become a ‘people’s movement’ in the Union Territory.
Sinha inaugurated the ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign in Jammu and Kashmir and he along with senior officials participated in an hour-long ‘Shramdaan’ led by citizens. He called for united efforts for a ‘waste-free India’.
He said, “100 percent villages of Jammu and Kashmir have achieved the milestone of ODF Plus under the ‘Model’ category. This historic milestone underlines our resolve to build villages with new potential, possibilities and confident dreams.
He further said, “The clean revolution in Jammu and Kashmir is also creating new livelihood opportunities, generating more revenue and improving the quality of life.”
During the inauguration, the Lieutenant Governor said, “The way we look at our surroundings becomes our life experience. Cleanliness brings happiness, joy and prosperity. This is the door to get closest to God. He said that it is heartening to see cleanliness turning into an aspiration of the society and garbage free cities and villages are no longer a fantasy but a reality.
