CM Naveen Patnaik to inaugurate Kalinga Indoor Athletic Stadium today
Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will inaugurate the Indoor Athletics Center at Kalinga Stadium Sports Complex on Saturday (March 9). The center is the largest indoor athletic stadium in South Asia and the first indoor athletics stadium in India.
CM Naveen Patnaik will lay the foundation stone of indoor athletic stadium and indoor diving centre.
The indoor athletic stadium has a 200 meter athletic track with a seating gallery for 2000 spectators. It has 100 m and 200 m plus 20 m running track and areas for pole vault, shot put, long jump, high jump.
The center has a state-of-the-art gymnastics hall, high performance centre, sports climbing wall, badminton and hockey centre, FIFA standard football stadium, synthetic track, Biju Patnaik Weightlifting Center and swimming pool.
All these features have enriched the sports sector and drawn the attention of the entire world towards Odisha.
The estimated cost of the project is around Rs 120 crore. The stadium can accommodate 120 athletes for full-time coaching. It also has a classroom for studies, medical facilities and a dedicated pantry.
