CM Sukhu instructed officials to settle pending cases by January 20
Shimla (ANI): Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on Monday directed officials to settle the pending revenue cases of renaming, partition and demarcation of land by January 20, 2024. The High Power Committee headed by the Chief Minister reviewed the pending revenue cases. All the Deputy Commissioners in the state were asked to dispose of the pending cases on mission mode.
The Chief Minister said that the government is committed to serving the common man and solving their problems is our first priority. He said that a large number of revenue cases are pending in the state, which need to be resolved immediately and all officials should take immediate steps to resolve them.
“Every revenue officer from Naib Tehsildar to Divisional Commissioner should hear the pending revenue cases on a daily basis and ensure their timely disposal and this will also be reflected in the ACRs of all concerned officers and employees,” Sukhu said.
He said the state government held ‘Intkaal Adalat’ across the state on October 30 and 31 and out of 41,907 pending cases, 31,105 were disposed of on priority basis. He said similar courts, now named ‘Rajasva Lok Adalat’, would be held in the state on December 1 and 2, in which all pending devolution and bifurcation cases would be disposed of on priority basis.
Instructions were issued to all Deputy Commissioners to send complete reports of cases disposed of on monthly basis to the State Government, containing name, address and phone number of the person and other details in tabular form. He said that Deputy Commissioners should also hold meetings with revenue officials in their respective districts and prepare strategies for expeditious disposal of pending revenue cases.
He also directed for rationalization of staff as per requirement and said that all appointments or dates for hearing of revenue related cases should not exceed three days. To overcome the shortage of staff in the districts, the state government will also allow deputy commissioners to appoint retired lawmen, he said, adding that the services of summons can also be done through electronic means.
He instructed the Chief Secretary to continuously review the pending revenue cases at the level of Divisional Commissioners. The Revenue Minister will also hold a meeting on the progress of this matter in the entire state before January 20, 2024.
However, as of October 31, 2023, cases were pending in Bilaspur 1407, Chamba 680, Hamirpur 2413, Kangra 12,014, Kinnaur 156, Kullu 1057, Lahaul-Spiti 48, Mandi 3208, Mandi 1288. 1072 in Shimla, Sirmaur, 1156 in Solan and 3973 in Una.
In the meeting in Shimla, Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh, Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Bharat Kheda, Principal Secretary Revenue R.D. Nazim was present, while all the Deputy Commissioners and Divisional Commissioners were connected virtually. (ANI)
