CM urges youth to cut down on social media and adopt yoga.

Odisha: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi appealed to the youth on Sunday to reduce their social media usage and incorporate yoga into their daily routines. He noted that modern lifestyles and digital habits are impacting people’s physical and mental health, and yoga emerges as an effective solution in this context.

He made these remarks during the main event held at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar to mark International Yoga Day. The Chief Minister himself participated in the yoga session and practiced various asanas. A large number of people, spanning various age groups, took part in the event.

In his address, Chief Minister Majhi stated that yoga is no longer confined to India but has evolved into a global movement. He highlighted that many countries around the world are celebrating International Yoga Day with enthusiasm, reflecting the global significance of this ancient Indian tradition.

He also mentioned the yoga programs being organized across all districts of Odisha, noting the encouraging level of public participation throughout the state. The Chief Minister remarked that dedicating just 20 to 30 minutes a day to yoga could enable people to lead stress-free and healthy lives.

He described yoga not merely as physical exercise but as a means to achieve mental peace and intellectual growth. He explained that yoga helps establish a balance between the body, mind, and thoughts, thereby fostering the holistic development of the individual.

The Chief Minister advised people to prioritize prevention over cure and to make yoga a priority. He stated that regular yoga practice can reduce the risk of lifestyle-related diseases and help maintain long-term health.

He specifically urged the youth to embrace yoga and health-promoting activities instead of spending excessive time on social media. According to him, excessive use of the digital world can lead to mental stress and imbalance, whereas yoga offers a natural solution.

An atmosphere of enthusiasm for yoga practice prevailed throughout the stadium during the event. Participants collectively practiced various yoga postures and promoted the message of a healthy lifestyle. In conclusion, the Chief Minister stated that making yoga a part of life is essential for building a healthy society. He urged people to adopt this ancient Indian tradition to not only keep themselves healthy but also spread health awareness within society.
