Cold increases in Delhi, IMD reports drop in temperature

New Delhi: The temperature in Delhi was recorded at 7.4 degrees Celsius at 5:30 am on Saturday. As the cold is increasing, residents are resorting to various measures to stay warm. Some are looking towards night shelters while others are gathering near the bonfire to escape the cold. Due to the cold weather, a blanket of fog has engulfed the national capital, which has increased the problems of the people. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported that minimum temperatures have fallen between 5-10 degrees Celsius in most parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, North Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. In Delhi’s Nizamuddin area, a group of people, including two security guards, Rakesh Kumar and Mohammed Naushad, were seen roaming around a bonfire.

Both guards noticed a significant increase in the cold compared to previous days. Rakesh Kumar told ANI, “The cold has increased a lot compared to before.” Mohammad Nausad told ANI, “The cold has been increasing for the last two days. It is very cold, so a fire is needed. “The cold has actually increased much more than before.” Meanwhile, the weather in Kanpur is fluctuating, with the onset of cold and a sharp drop in the temperature. Visibility has also reduced due to fog in this cold weather. Underprivileged people and early morning commuters were seen huddling around bonfires to escape the cold. MD Chand Hussain, caretaker of a night shelter home in Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan area, said that all 20 beds in his shelter home are full and another shelter home has been built nearby. He said a medical team visits the shelter and they provide beds, blankets and food for the homeless. “We have 20 beds here and all our beds are full.

We have set up another shelter ahead. There is no shortage. A medical team also comes. In the tents, we have beds, blankets and food for the homeless. These are available here,” said MD Chand Hussain. Rakhi, who took shelter in a night shelter in Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan area, praised the facility and said she gets three meals a day and medicines on time. Another person, Akshay, praised the government for providing night shelter and said that he gets all the necessary facilities including medicines from nearby mohalla clinics. Rakhi said, “It is good, we get food three times a day. We get medicine on time.” Akshay said, “The government has done a good job by providing this night shelter. We get all the facilities here. We also get medicines from nearby mohalla clinics.”
