Community Health Center Kandi Health care in remote, poor areas
Rajouri (ANI): The Community Health Center (CHC) at Kandi, located in Kotranka subdivision of Jammu and Kashmir Rajouri district, is providing essential health care facilities to the underprivileged communities in the remote and hilly areas of the Pir Panjal range.
More than 85% of the people living in Kandi Kotranaka sub-division are below the poverty line. The health department provides basic facilities to these poor patients at the CHC center in Kandi under the ‘Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) Health Scheme’. Under this scheme, free check-up, free medicines, all types of tests and ambulance services are all provided to the people free of cost.
All types of testing facilities have been improved in the remote areas of CHC Kandi to provide better service to the poor patients. Services including X-ray, ECG, ultrasound, dental care and all emergency services are provided at the doorstep, an official said.
Speaking to ANI, Dr Vinod Kumar Bhatt, Block Medical Officer (BMO) of the Community Health Center (CHC) in Kandi, said that in response to the severe cold conditions in Kandi and Pir Panjal areas, necessary precautions have been taken. Ensure well-being of all employees including provision of necessary medicines.
“Our Kandi and Pir Panjal areas are experiencing severe cold at the moment. The mountains are covered with snow and in such circumstances, we have alerted all our staff. We have kept all the necessary medicines with us and have also supplied them. There should be no shortage of any kind. Whether someone needs surgery, other facilities, or health center facilities, we are providing all that. I am personally going to them, checking their cards and identifying the patients. Through myself and the staff, and we ourselves are providing relief to them,” Bhatt told ANI.
He further said, “Whether someone has to undergo surgery or has a leg fracture, all of them are being treated free of cost. So, we are very happy that we are serving humanity.” (ANI)
