An election department employee died of a heart attack while on election duty.

Tamil Nadu: A government employee working as a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) officer in the election division of the Thoothukudi District Collectorate died of a heart attack on Thursday.
The deceased, Saravanan (35), son of Esakkimuthu, was a resident of PT Colony in Thoothukudi. He worked as an employee in the election department of the District Collectorate. He is survived by his wife, Shanmugapriya (30), and three children, Rizana (8), Sahana (5), and Rishilinga (3).
Saravanan, who was engaged in the Special Intensive Revision of the voter list, suffered a sudden heart attack on Thursday morning and died while being taken to the hospital.
There are demands that Saravanan’s death was due to overwork and that his family should be given adequate compensation.
