Congress high command did not ask for even a single penny for elections in five states: CM Siddaramaiah
Mysore: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has clarified that the Congress high command has not asked for a single penny from the state in the backdrop of assembly elections in five states.
Responding to the questions asked by journalists on BJP’s allegations in this regard, Siddaramaiah said that BJP’s statement in this regard is baseless and politically motivated.
The BJP had alleged that the huge cash (Rs 42 crore) seized during the Income Tax Department raid in Bengaluru was meant specifically for the poll-bound states Telangana and Rajasthan.
Siddaramaiah said that even if they hold any protest in this regard, the people of the state will not believe them. When asked if the money was allegedly found in the house of a contractor linked to the Congress party, the CM replied that he would say the contractor was linked to the BJP.
He said that there is no need for the state government to conduct an investigation, the Income Tax Department has done its work. If money is found in someone’s house then it is not right to give it political connections. BJP has organized this protest in view of the Lok Sabha elections.
He said that there is no connection between the elections held in other states and our state.
Former national general secretary of BJP C.T. On Ravi’s allegation that politicians are targeted to collect money, Siddaramaiah said that Ravi is known for lying. There is no need to respond to his lies, his statement is baseless.
Talking about the power crisis, the CM said, due to lack of rain, power supply to farmers’ pump sets is disrupted. “Normally there was a demand of 10,000 MW till October. But, due to no rain, the consumption has increased to 16,000 MW, there is a shortfall of 2,000 MW. Officials have been instructed to purchase power from other states, he said. “
After the meeting, instructions were given to provide electricity to the farmers for five hours in three phases. The CM said, action has been taken to ensure that farmers are not affected by load shedding. (IANS).
