‘Contract terms mandate completion of Central Library AC work by Feb 28’
In a case related to the Krishnadas Shama Goa State Central Library, the Advocate General has said before the High Court of Bombay at Goa that in terms of the work orders issued, the work of air-conditioning is due to be completed by February 28.
The Advocate General has also said that the constitution of the Library Council and the Development Cell would be completed within a few weeks.
The High Court said, “Accordingly, we stand over this matter to March 18, 2024 to enable the curator to report compliance. Affidavit of compliance to be filed by March 14, 2024 by giving advance copy to the Amicus Curiae.”
The Advocate General also handed in affidavit-in-reply on behalf of curator of the Central Library.
The affidavit states that the work of replacement of the exiting VRV-III Air conditioning system at Krishnadas Shama Goa State Central Library, Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji was commenced by the contractor M/s Aprant Motors Pvt Ltd on December 1, 2023. The necessary outdoor units and 6 indoor units have already been procured by the
contractor.
The work of installation of 23 outdoor units has already been completed by the contractor.
The affidavit also mentions that the air conditioning system in the Conference Hall at the third floor of the Goa State Central Library has already commenced.
The work of installing the remaining 9 outdoor units and 6 units indoor is in progress.
With respect to the suggestion of the Amicus Curiae to have a regular maintenance schedule for the newly-installed air conditioning system, the affidavit also states that no sooner the work of installation of the air conditioners is completed, the necessary process for bringing on board a contractor for the purpose of carrying out annual maintenance contract of the same will be taken up by the state.
