Copper theft worth lakhs from Jindal Company Store revealed, 5 accused arrested
Raigarh. The police have solved the case of major theft of copper from Jindal Company’s store in Tamnar police station area of the district within just 24 hours. In action taken on the complaint of the company’s store in-charge Nemish Patnaik, the police have arrested five accused and recovered all the stolen goods. According to the information, on the night of 01-02 January, security guard Ashok Kumar found the lock of the warehouse broken in Jindal Company’s store. About 400 kg of copper, worth ₹ 2,40,000, was stolen from inside. On information, Tamnar police station registered a crime [04/2025 Section 331 (4), 305, 3 (5)] against unknown accused and started investigation.
The police team took immediate action under the leadership of Inspector Ashirwad Rahatgaonkar and activated the informer system. Identifying the suspects, Raj Yadav alias Yashraj, Pawan Yadav, Ikram Khan, Ashok Kewat and Kamlesh Yadav alias Nanu were taken into custody. During interrogation, the accused admitted to the theft and told that they had hidden the stolen goods in the bushes. Following the information provided by the accused, the police recovered 400 kg of stolen copper (wire and rod), hidden in 8 sacks, and two vehicles used in the crime – Honda Leo motorcycle and a scooty (total value ₹1,30,000). The total value of the recovery is ₹3,70,000.
