Corruption Case: Permission for CBI investigation against two GNCTD officials

New Delhi: Delhi LG VK Saxena has given permission for a CBI inquiry against two officials of the Forest and Wildlife Department, GNCTD, in a Rs 223 crore corruption case, an official statement said.

In another case, the LG gave permission to the anti-corruption branch, GNCTD, to investigate two senior nurses of a Delhi government-run hospital in a Rs 60,000 bribery case.

According to the statement, in both the cases, Saxena has approved the proposals for investigation under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, noting that he is of the view that it is in the interest of justice to institute and conduct the investigation. . Inquiry against accused persons.

The CBI registered a case against then forest department officials, Parasnath Yadav and Alam Singh Rawat, who were senior account officer and assistant account officer respectively, for their involvement in criminal conspiracy with LA Khan, the then senior branch manager of Bank of Baroda. Yadav, who is a Group ‘A’ officer, is currently posted as Pay and Accounts Officer in the Principal Accounts Office, GNCTD and his file has been sent to the LG by the directorate for seeking permission under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act for a CBI investigation. Rawat is currently posted as Accounts Officer at Bhagwan Mahavir Hospital, Pitampura.

The Vigilance Directorate said that the CBI, through a letter dated July 12, 2023, submitted that the investigation conducted so far has prima facie revealed the role of two officers in the case of financial irregularities related to the Forest and Wildlife Department of GNCTD.

In the bribery case against two women health department officials, Chanchal Rani Pisalla and Rajnesh Verma, who were then posted as Deputy Nursing Superintendent and Nursing Officer respectively at GB Pant Hospital, the ACB, GNCTD alleged that they had bribed two nursing personnel. A demand of Rs 60,000 was made from each. To allow officers ‘light duty’.

A nursing officer also alleged that the two accused had already taken Rs 42,000 from the COVID-19 desk for exemption from duty.
At present Pisalla is posted at Guru Nanak Eye Center while Verma has been posted at Aruna Asaf Ali Hospital.
