Counting Observer and Collector gave final touch to the preparations for counting of votes

Bemetara: Now only two days are left for the results of Chhattisgarh Assembly General Election-2023 to be known. The District Election Office has intensified preparations for counting of votes. Almost completed. The district and police administration have made special preparations for security arrangements in the strong room built at Bemetara district headquarters. The Election Commission has also given instructions to the District Election Officers to record every counting activity on video cameras. To prepare for the counting of votes to be held at the district headquarters on 3rd December, the Election Commission of India has appointed Counting Observer for the three Assemblies of the district, Dilip Kumar Chakma, General Observer of the District and Counting Observer of Bemetara, Abhishek Krishna and Counting Observer of Navagarh Assembly Constituency. Anil Kumar Agnihotri and Collector and District Election Officer P.S. Alma gave the final touch today. Counting of votes will start at 8.00 am on December 3 in the agricultural produce market located at the district headquarters. EVM. The strong room will be opened at 7.00 am in the presence of observers, candidates and their election agents.
Observers closely observed the counting rooms of all three assembly constituencies. Collector Elma informed about the arrangements made. Superintendent of Police Bhavna Gupta gave information about the security arrangements made and parking etc. On this occasion, Additional Collector Dr. Anil Bajpai, C.L. Markandey, Additional Superintendent of Police Pankaj Patel, SDM Berla Yugal Kishore Uvarsha, Upazila Election Officer Umashankar Bande and other officers were present. Every small and big activity during the counting of votes will be monitored through video cameras. 360 degree CCTV coverage of the counting process will also be done in the counting rooms. As per the instructions of the Commission, cameras have been installed in all the counting rooms of the three assembly constituencies of the district. These are fixed at every corner of the calculation room. Besides, video cameras have also been installed on the corridor used to transport EVMs from the strong room to the counting room.

Every counting agent shall be given by the Returning Officer a badge indicating whose agent he is and also showing the serial number of the table at which he will supervise the counting. The counting agent will have to remain seated at the table for which he has been appointed. He will not be allowed to walk in the hall or go out. The Returning Officer can send any person out of the counting hall if he does not follow the instructions. As per the guidelines of the Commission, counting agents or candidates are not allowed to carry mobile phones, I-pads, laptops or any electronic device that can record audio or video inside the counting centre. Apart from this, no candidate or counting agent will be able to carry any material of any kind like watch, mobile, tobacco, cigarette, beedi, paan, calculator, water, snacks etc. The counting agent will be allowed to take only pen, pencil, plain paper or notepad into the counting room.
