Court approves ASI’s survey in Gyanvapi case
Varanasi (IANS). Order has come on the petition for survey of the premises except the disputed site at Gyanvapi in Kashi, Uttar Pradesh. District Judge Dr. Ajay Krishna Vishwesh’s court has approved the application of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to conduct a radar survey of the barricaded area, except the seal box of Gyanvapi, in the Maa Shringar Gauri original suit.
While giving this verdict, the Varanasi court rejected the petition of the Muslim side. The Muslim side had filed a petition to stay the survey. On July 14, District Judge Dr. Ajay Krishna Vishwesh had reserved the decision after a debate that lasted for about one and a half hours.
Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain, representing the Hindu side, said that the court has ordered the ASI survey. Vishnu Shankar Jain said the application has been accepted and the court has directed ASI survey of the Gyanvapi mosque complex, except for the Vaju tank, which has been sealed.
The ASI will submit the report of the survey to the district judge on August 4. The Muslim side opposed the survey. But, the court has given permission for the survey after listening to all the arguments. The court of Varanasi District Judge Ajay Krishna Vishwesh has given this order while hearing the case.
In fact, on July 14, the hearing on the petition to get the mosque surveyed in the famous Shringar Gauri-Gyanvapi case of Varanasi was completed. Then, the District Judge had reserved the order. On May 16, 2023, the Hindu side gave an application on behalf of the four plaintiff women, demanding that the entire complex, except the disputed part of the Gyanvapi mosque, be investigated by the ASI. On this petition, the court has given permission while giving its verdict.
