Court sentenced famous couple of South Industry to jail in defamation case
Hyderabad (IANS). Tollywood’s famous actor Rajasekhar and his wife Jeevitha have been sentenced to one year imprisonment by the court in a defamation case. The 17th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Nampally also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000.
However, the court has given an opportunity to approach the higher court against this decision. Both were released on bail after paying the fine.
In 2011, the couple made some allegations against the Chiranjeevi Blood Bank run by megastar Chiranjeevi. Rajasekhar and his wife alleged that the blood bank was selling blood after collecting it free of cost from donors.
He alleged that there were large-scale irregularities in Chiranjeevi’s blood bank and charitable trust.
He had said that Chiranjeevi’s charitable trust, which had received Rs 14.5 lakh from the state government for the maintenance of its blood bank, was selling a unit of blood for Rs 850.
Filmmaker and Chiranjeevi’s brother-in-law Allu Aravind had filed a defamation case against the couple.
Arvind had said that the allegations leveled against Chiranjeevi’s charitable trust and the blood bank run by him and its trustees were completely false and politically motivated.
