Court’s verdict in journalist Soumya murder case, all accused found guilty
New Delhi: All the accused have been declared guilty in the case of murder of journalist Soumya Vishwanathan in Delhi in 2008. Saket court has convicted Ravi Kapoor, Baljeet Singh Malik, Amit Shukla, Ajay Kumar under 302 and MCOCA. Accused Ajay Sethi was found guilty under 311 and MCOCA. The court has fixed October 26 for sentencing.
The court found that Ravi Kapoor, Amit Shukla, Ajay Kumar and Baljeet Malik had murdered Soumya with the intention of robbery. Meanwhile, Ajay Sethi kept the vehicle used in the crime with himself. Aided the organization and also took property acquired from organized crime. The court has convicted him under section 311 of the IPC and sections 3(2) and 3(5) of the MCOCA.
The judge said that the prosecution proved the guilt of the accused beyond the message. Vishwanathan was murdered in the capital Delhi on 30 September 2008. Vishwanathan, who worked in a TV channel, was returning home from office at 3:30 in the morning. After investigation, the police revealed that the intention behind murder was robbery. Five people were arrested for murder. All of them are in jail since March 2009.
