Affan Ansari, 32, was traveling in a car with his partner in Kurla, Mumbai when alleged cow vigilantes stopped them. After this they started beating Afan. Both were admitted to the hospital after the incident. Afan died in the hospital itself. When the police reached the spot, they found the car badly mangled. Sub-inspector Sunil Bhamre said the injured were inside the car and were admitted to a nearby hospital. In this case, the police have registered a case and detained 10 people. Police said that based on the complaint of the injured person, a case of murder and rioting has been registered. Police said it was not clear whether they were indeed smuggling beef or not. It can be ascertained only after the report comes from the lab. Let us tell you that the Maharashtra government has approved the formation of a commission to stop beef smuggling and implement the law to ban cow slaughter. The Bombay High Court upheld the ban on cattle slaughtering eight years ago. The court had said that the department concerned should deal with the matter and ensure that there is no smuggling of beef. The court had said that the competent authority can stop and search a vehicle carrying a cow, bull or bull for export. If the allegations are found to be true then the vehicle can also be seized.
