Crime branch destroys interstate drug cartel supplying students, 6 arrested

New Delhi: New Delhi Range (NDR) Crime Branch and Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Crime Branch cracked down on two separate inter-state drug cartels involved in smuggling of narcotics to college students, resulting in the arrest of six Persons were arrested. In a press release on Wednesday.

The first cartels busted by NDR involved smuggling of ganja from Manipur and Thailand. Three persons, identified as Nongmatham Jashobanta Singh (36), Thiyam Rabikanta Singh (32) and Rudransh Gupta (33), were arrested and 48 kg of ganja was seized from them, an official statement said. Is.

“Secret information was received from a house at DLF Capital Greens, Moti Nagar, Delhi about a drug syndicate from the north-eastern region engaged in supplying high quality ganja to the Delhi-NCR region. Information revealed that ganja was being transported. Organic hemp was brought from Manipur and Shillong by railways and by air from Phuket, Thailand,” the press note said.

According to the official release, Nongmaitham Jashobanta and Thiyam Rabikanta both hail from Manipur, while Rudransh Gupta is a permanent resident of Delhi’s Greater Kailash area.

The press release said their disclosures during interrogation revealed a distribution network spanning Delhi, Gurugram and Noida, as the accused used social media platforms and delivery services like Porter and V-Fast to supply the contraband items. did.
A case was registered under Sections 20 and 29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Crime Branch, Delhi, following which the accused persons were arrested.

The release further mentioned that another cartel smuggling organic ganja and MDMA from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh was busted by the ANTF with the arrest of three accused identified as Lakshya Bhatia, Girik Aggarwal and Khalid Zafar. and 15 grams of MDMA and 1200 grams of Ganja were recovered from them.

“Information was received about an interstate drug syndicate based in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh region, which was engaged in the supply of high quality organic ganja and MDMA in the Delhi-NCR region. The team took immediate action and conducted a raid near Kakrola Mor, Dwarka. And the accused Lakshya Bhatia was apprehended,” the press note said.

The release further said that during interrogation, Lakshya Bhatia revealed that he along with his associate Girik Aggarwal supplies drugs to the students of the university.

On the behest of accused Lakshya Bhatia, co-associate Girik Aggarwal was also arrested. Further, he revealed that whenever he needed drugs for supply, he used to collect drugs from Khalid Zafar of Kanpur, UP with the assistance of Girik Aggarwal. Raids were conducted and Khalid Zafar, the main source of the recovered drugs and mastermind of the gang, was also arrested.
