Cruise season begins, first ship reaches New Mangalore port
Mangaluru: The year’s cruise season began with the arrival of luxury cruiser ‘Seven Seas Navigator’ at the port of New Mangalore, officials said on Saturday. The Bahamas-flagged boat, carrying 500 passengers and 350 crew, arrived at the port Friday morning. According to an NMPA release, this is the first foreign boat to reach the port during the current cruise season, during which 10 cruisers are expected to reach the port. The cruise passengers were given a traditional welcome with Chenda and Yakshagana. AV Ramana, Chairman, New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) welcomed the visitors and presented a memento to cruise captain Abhijeet Singh. Cruise season begins in New Mangalore port The NMPA made provisions for medical controls and immigration and customs checks. Buses and taxis were arranged to transport visitors to various places in and around the city. This boat belongs to a Norwegian businessman and has the flag of Bahamas on it. The boat has 173 meters of sea and 7,5 meters depth. According to the report, the weight of the book is 28.083 tonnes.
