Cuncolim residents take out candle light march against pollution
Cuncolim: Residents of Cuncolim on Saturday took out a candle light march to protest against pollution caused by industries located in the Cuncolim industrial area.
The protesters said that if the problem of pollution is not addressed, they will be forced to boycott the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
“The government is in deep sleep. If she is not listening to the leader of the opposition, how can she pay attention to the grievances of the common man,” said a protester.
He urged opposition leader Yuri Alemao to talk to the Union ministry to resolve the issue if the Goa government is not listening to him.
“Please raise our voice. Write to PMO. If the Chief Minister is not listening to the leader of the opposition, we will march till the CMO.
Opposition leader Yuri Alemao said that a solution to the problem would be found.
“We will find a solution. We all have to work together. Whatever decision has to be taken, I am with you. We will do our work and fight this government.
The protesters gave an ultimatum to the state government till January 15, 2024 to address the issue of pollution caused by industrial estates in the state.
He said that if the state government failed to take action by January 15, they would be forced to take the matter to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
