Cyclonic circulation over Bay of Bengal, low pressure likely to bring heavy rains in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A cyclonic circulation over Bay of Bengal has been formed, low pressure is likely to bring heavy rains in Odisha. The circulation has been formed over Southern bay of Bengal.

According to latest reports of the regional MeT center situated here in Bhubaneswar, the cyclonic circulation is likely to turn into a low pressure. The regional MeT office situated here in Bhubaneswar has issued a rain alert in Odisha for 21 districts on Thursday. The MeT further informed that heavy rains in Odisha shall continue for two more days in the state.

Yellow warning has been issued for 21 districts for today for heavy rain. The Odisha SRC has alerted the District Magistrates. The slum areas of the city may be submerged. Due to heavy rains, necessary pump arrangements have been made for water drainage. The government has been directed to submit an immediate report regarding the damage. The amount of rain will decrease from August 3.

On the other hand, a total of 489.5 mm of rain has been recorded in the state since June 1 in the current monsoon season. There is still 11 percent rainfall. Currently, the state is expected to receive 550.7 mm of normal rainfall. Similarly, one district, Malkangari, has received more than normal rainfall, while 3 districts have recorded more than normal rainfall and 14 districts have recorded normal rainfall. The remaining 12 districts have recorded moderate rainfall.

On the other hand following the rain alert in Odisha it is worth mentioning, many cities have received light to moderate rainfall in the last 24 hours. While Rasgobindpur of Mayurbhanj has recorded the highest rainfall of 58.4 mm, Parlakhemundi recorded a maximum temperature of 35.3 degrees Celsius.
