Baazigar starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Shilpa Shetty was released in 1993. Directed by Abbas Burmawala and Mastan Burmawala, Baazigar was one of the turning points for Shah Rukh Khan, who had not yet become a superstar at that time. During a recent interview with Bollywood Thikana, Deepak Tijori revealed what suggestion he gave to the director duo.

“I watched a movie, A Kiss Before Dying, and told them a story,” he said. Back then, that was how it worked, there was no concept of copyright, the studio system had not come into play. So, most of the films were inspired by Hollywood films.”
