Defeat of the idea of India: Mehbooba Mufti on Supreme Court’s decision on Article 370
Popular Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti on Monday said the Supreme Court’s decision to abrogate Article 370 is “no less than a death sentence”, adding that it symbolizes the defeat of the idea of India. Due to which he supports the majority of Muslims. State formed in 1947.
“Hoy declared an unconstitutional and illegal act in Parliament as legal. This is nothing less than a death sentence not only for Jammu and Kashmir but for the idea of India, Mufti said in a five-minute video message published in X.
“SC has said that Article 370 is transitional, so it was removed. This is not only our defeat but also the defeat of the idea of India.’ This is the defeat of the idea of Gandhian India with which the Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir have united Gandhi’s country, Hindus, Buddhists and Christians by rejecting Pakistan. . This symbolizes the defeat of that idea of India”, he said.
The former Prime Minister neither disappointed nor lost hope among the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh due to the decision of the Supreme Tribunal established.
“Neither do we despair, nor do we lose hope. Jammu and Kashmir has experienced many extreme situations. Today’s decision of the Supreme Court is high, not our destiny. Do not consider the mistake as the last mistake. Our opponents want us to lose hope and accept defeat. But this should not happen”, he said.
The PPD president said the war in Jammu and Kashmir was a political war that lasted for decades.
“No decision is final, not even the decision of the Supreme Court. This is a political struggle that has been going on for many decades. Our people have made sacrifices and we will not surrender halfway”, he said.
Mufti said the fact that the Supreme Court has declared Article 370 a temporary provision of the Constitution has given strength to forces who claim that the merger of Jammu and Kashmir with India is temporary.
“In 1947 there was a government, there was a Parliament and that led to a Constitution. He made promises to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and gave them special status. After 77 years, another party came which, after coming to power, insisted on removing Article 370 and did so. This is not our defeat but the country’s defeat. We have not betrayed, we have not.” “Hoy, we have weakened the country by declaring Article 370 as temporary. Mehbooba said, “You are united with Asha, this is the hand that has hurt you. Don’t lose hope, this too shall pass.”
The PPD chief asked people in other parts of the country not to celebrate the abrogation of Article 370 and warned that the ruling party at the Center will not stop here.

We will not waste much time in fighting against the Constitution and the Tricolor under which we fought and achieved our freedom. At this time, we will not celebrate but we will pray that you face us with courage”, he said.
