Delhi News: Due to cold wave, homeless people are taking shelter in night shelters

New Delhi: While the national capital is in the grip of a severe cold wave, many people have taken shelter in night shelters amid the inclement weather. Mercury levels dropped to 5.4 degrees Celsius in New Delhi, while citizens faced severe cold wave and dense fog.

While the severe cold wave is scorching Delhi, people without homes are huddled in government-administered night shelters.

Night shelters in Delhi aim to provide shelter to homeless people who live on the streets and have no other place to go when it’s cold. Refugees provide blankets, bedding, hot water and food to asylum seekers.

Krishnakant Choudhary, caretaker of the shelter homes at AIIMS, praised the Delhi government for providing “shelter with proper provisions” to the homeless people during winter.

ANI said, “They have arranged for at least 350 beds in the shelter at AIIMS and around 450 people are being kept here. They are providing three meals a day, they are providing sleeping bags and they have helped the Delhi government All the arrangements made by have been implemented.” ,
