Delhi Weather: Cold havoc continues in Delhi, know weather updates
New Delhi: It was a cold day in the national capital on Wednesday also. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature today was recorded at 7.1 degrees Celsius, which is the same as the average. The maximum temperature is likely to be around 16 degrees Celsius. On Tuesday, the city’s maximum temperature was recorded at 13.4 degrees Celsius, which is six degrees below the seasonal average. Safdarjung recorded the lowest visibility of 700 meters at 7:30 am on Wednesday in the city, while Palam recorded 800 meters at 8:30 am. The IMD classifies fog intensity into four types: shallow, moderate, dense and very dense fog. In these the visibility ranges from 999 meters to 500 meters, 499 meters to 200 meters, 199 meters to 50 meters and less than 50 meters respectively. According to Indian Railways, a total of 18 trains are running late due to fog and cold wave. The air quality remains in the ‘very poor’ category at many stations across the city. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the level of PM2.5 in Delhi’s Anand Vihar stood in the ‘very poor’ category at 307 and that of PM10 in the ‘moderate’ category at 181. CO (carbon monoxide) was at 135 or ‘moderate’. Air quality index (AQI) between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’; ‘satisfactory’ between 51 and 100; ‘medium’ between 101 and 200; ‘poor’ between 201 and 300; ‘Very bad’ between 301 and 400; And between 401 and 500 is considered ‘severe’. The PM2.5 level at Terminal 3 of the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport also stood at 292, which is in the ‘poor’ category, while the PM10 level was at 166, which is in the ‘moderate’ category.
