Dengue patient died in Raipur, was admitted in private hospital
Raipur: The first death due to dengue has occurred in the capital Raipur this season. A dengue-afflicted youth died in a private hospital in Devendranagar on Sunday night. Here, more than two dozen patients have been admitted to Ambedkar Hospital on suspicion of dengue. Dengue patients are being admitted in all major private hospitals of the city.
However, in the records of the Health Department, dengue has been found in only three patients in the capital. The government staff is not considering the rest as dengue because their blood samples have not been tested for ELISA in the virology lab. Meanwhile, in Ambedkar Hospital itself, a dozen patients have reduced platelet count due to dengue virus.
According to medicine specialist Dr. Yogendra Malhotra, most of the patients who are coming now have low platelets, but it is not serious. According to Dr. Sunil Khemka, Director of Devendranagar Hospital, the youth who died was brought in a critical condition. He died even before the treatment started.
