Dharna demonstration to remove Chowpatty, close liquor shop and take back electricity price hike
Raipur: Satyamev Jayate Foundation organized a one-day dharna regarding the problems prevailing in Raipur South Assembly constituency and the problems of the trade and industry. Angry citizens opposed the construction of Chowpatty in Dani School Parikrama Marg and called it a threat to the safety of daughters and demanded an immediate ban. The speakers also demanded to close the liquor shop in Bhatgaon and complete the smart road from Budheshwar temple to Sundar Nagar.
State convener of Satyamev Jayate Foundation Kanhaiya Agarwal called the Chowpatty being built in Budhatalaab Dani School Parikrama Marg a threat to the safety of daughters and said that many efforts were made in 20 years to build this Chowpatty and every time the government had to withdraw its decision.
He said that the liquor shop in front of Swami Atmanand School in Bhatgaon and the liquor shop on the service road in Ring Road need to be closed immediately. While demanding the withdrawal of the increased electricity rate, he also demanded an immediate ban on power cuts. Aggarwal said that the law and order situation in the area is bad and criminals are fearlessly committing crimes every day. The business industry is becoming a victim of increased electricity rates, GST notices and harassment of e-way bill. Hundreds of industries have closed down, the government should make concrete efforts to restart them. Former councilors of Budhapara ward Manoj Kandoi, Manish Vora, Mamta Rai, former councilors Govardhan Sharma, Asha Joseph, Kamlesh Nathwani, Manoj Pal, Raj Devangan Manoj Sonkar, Sumit Das, Dau Goswami, Asha Chauhan, Sushma Dhruv, Sharad Gupta, Sanjay Poddar, Mahesh Soni addressed the protest and opposed the construction of Chowpatty, demanded immediate completion of the smart road being built between Budheshwar temple and Sundar Nagar. Business leader Vijay Sharma raised the issue of industries closing down due to GST problems, e-way bill problems and increase in electricity rates and said that there is intense anger against the government in the business industry.
