District administration will set up sales center for onion
The Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs branch of the Kamrup Metro district administration has announced that they will set up sales centers for onions. The district administration has taken this step in view of the sudden increase in the prices of this food item.
Making this announcement on Tuesday, officials mentioned that the sale of onion will be arranged either using mobile installations on vehicles or by vendors at a particular location. These people will sell onions at the prices set by the government. And will be available from 8 am to 10 am and 4 pm on every alternate day as mentioned in the notice issued.
Following are the places of sale of onion at the prices fixed by the government. Six Mile near IDBI Bank, Basistha Bazaar, Beltola Bazaar, Ganeshguri – between petrol pump and flyover, Dispur Last Gate near GMC office or ground, Ulubari Bazaar, Uzan Bazaar, Chandmari Bazaar, Pandu Bazaar, Maligaon Bazaar near Police Station , Noonmati Bazar, Near Public Health Engineering Department Office Hengrabari.
A list of names of officials has also been released by the authorities to ensure proper functioning of these onion selling centres. It mentioned that Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Branch inspector Anand Kishore Kanu will oversee the sales at SX Mile, Basistha, Beltola, Ganeshguri and Dispur Last Gate. Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Branch inspector Paresh Kumar Saharia will look after Uzan Bazaar and Ulubari sales points, while Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs branch inspector Long Kumar Engati will look after Chandmari. Priyanka Medhi, sub-inspector of Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Branch, will look after Pandu Bazaar and Maligaon. Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Branch Inspector Meenu Das will look after Noonmati, while Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Branch Inspector Surjeet Chakraborty will ensure proper functioning at Hengrabari.
