District Collectors asked to assess damage caused by Cyclone Michong
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Special Relief Commissioner has directed district collectors to immediately assess the damage caused to crops due to rain under the impact of Cyclone Michong. Assistance will be given as per SDRF norms. In a letter dated December 6, Satyabrata Sahu, IAS, told all collectors, “I have to say that during the last few days, widespread rains have been observed across the state due to the influence of Sidon “Mikong”, which may lead to There is damage to standing Kharif crops and horticultural crops. To mitigate the suffering of the affected farmers, Agricultural Input Subsidy (AIS) will be provided to farmers with crop loss of 33% and above, as per the norms of the State Disaster Response Fund. The letter further requested the Collectors to assess the crop loss at the regional level to assess 33 per cent and above damaged crop areas through joint investigation by officials of the Revenue and DM Department and Agriculture and FE Department and ULB/Submit. “While assessing the extent of crop loss, the land schedule/ROR of the affected farmers should be verified from Bhulekh. Collectors will approve the detailed requirement or distribution of crop loss (farmer-wise extent of damaged crop area as per assessment) and funds. AIS is acceptable,” the letter said. The Special Relief Commissioner official further mentioned that geo-tagged and time-stamped photographs of the damaged crop area should be taken during assessment and preserved in the case records. “The supervising officer (Sub-Collector/Tehsildar/Additional Tehsildar/DAO/BAO) will conduct a test check to ensure the correctness of the assessment and attach a certificate to this effect on the damage report submitted to the collectors for approval.
It is clarified that the area of crop loss/harvest affected by floods and heavy rains during the current year will not be included in the present assessment,” the letter said. Crops have also been damaged due to heavy rains in NTR district of Andhra Pradesh. Earlier, Director General of India Meteorological Department, Dr. Mrityunjay Mohapatra had said on Wednesday that Cyclonic Storm Michong has weakened and it will not have any destructive impact. In the next 12 hours it will move towards north-northeast and weaken further. Its effect has also reduced. At present, rain will continue in the next 12-18 hours and at some places there may be heavy rain of 7 cm to 11 cm. These areas will be Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Northern Andhra Pradesh. Apart from this, it will not have any destructive impact, Mohapatra said.
