Two people, including the head coach, have qualified for the World Senior Athletics Championships.
Tamil Nadu: A Special Unit Head Constable from Krishnagiri district and a retired Physical Education Director have qualified for the World Senior Athletics Championships to be held in South Korea.
The 46th Senior Athletics Championships were recently held in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. More than 3,500 participants from various states took part in the competition. 644 athletes from Tamil Nadu, aged between 30 and 90 years, participated in the event.
In this competition, Jayaprakash, a Special Unit Head Constable from Kaveripattinam, won a silver medal in the javelin throw event in the above-40 age category. Similarly, Parimala, a retired Physical Education Director from Krishnagiri, won a bronze medal in the javelin throw event in the above-60 age category.
Both of them have qualified for the World Senior Athletics Championships to be held in Seoul, South Korea, in August. M.P. Ramesh, President of the Krishnagiri District Senior Athletics Association, Secretary Mathaiyan, Treasurer Sathyanathan, and others congratulated them.
In the competition held in Thiruvananthapuram, the Tamil Nadu team won a total of 425 medals, including 164 gold, 132 silver, and 129 bronze medals, and secured the overall championship trophy.
