DMK leader and his friend killed in collision with private omni bus
Tamil Nadu: A DMK leader and his companion were killed in a collision with a private omnibus on the Uttamapalayam bypass road in Theni district.
Chellapandi (36), an organizer of the Chinnamanur Urban Youth League, hailed from the Keelapulanandapuram area of Seelaiyampatti, and his friend Vaitheeswari, also from Uttamapalayam, was traveling from Chinnamanur to Uttamapalayam on a two-wheeler.
While attempting to cross the Uttamapalayam bypass road, a private omnibus traveling from Kambat to Chennai collided with the two-wheeler.
Her friend Vaitheeswari was seriously injured and died on the spot.
The DMK leader died on the way to Theni Government Medical College Hospital.
The Uttamapalayam police have registered a case and arrested the omnibus driver, Murugesan, from the Manapparai area in Trichy and are investigating.
