He said this on Tuesday, March 21, while inaugurating the workshop of Agro Forestry based Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) organized by the Forest Department on the occasion of International Forest Day at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar.

He said that to deal with this problem of climate change, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started the country’s first climate change department in Gujarat with a special foresight. Not only this, he has also advocated green growth for environment-friendly sustainable development in this year’s Union Budget.

In Gujarat also, in this year’s budget, it has been organized to spend two lakh crore rupees for green growth.

The Chief Minister said that due to this idea of the Prime Minister, Gujarat has also planned to spend two lakh crore rupees in the next five years for green growth in this year’s budget. He said that apart from preparing about 20 urban forests in the urban areas of the state, there is an intention to expand the scope of agro-forestry i.e. agricultural forestry to include an area of 5750 square kilometers in the coming years. On the occasion of International Forest Day, he appreciated the organization of such a workshop for giving state-of-the-art guidance to the farmers-sons of soil doing agro-forestry by coordinating water, land and forest. The Chief Minister also expressed the intention that the state government would stand by the farmers involved in agro-forestry.
