Dog found sleeping on patient’s bed in hospital, photos viral on social media
Hamirpur. The claims of the governments boasting of better health facilities in the state go in vain when dogs are resting on the beds of patients in government health institutions running in rural areas. Yes, dogs sleep on the beds of patients at Bhoranj Civil Hospital in Hamirpur district at night. When a dog was resting on the emergency medical bed in Bhoranj Hospital at around 3.15 am on September 13, someone present in the hospital took a photo of the dog sleeping on that bed and made it viral. Then what was the viral photo, the better health facilities in the state were exposed on social media. Some people wrote on social media that although the government is opening medical colleges at many places in the state and providing better health facilities by giving the status of civil hospital to PHCs in rural areas, there is a shortage of doctors and other health facilities. Due to this, these civil hospitals have become white elephants and referral hospitals. This is the reason why dogs rest on the beds of patients in these hospitals. On the other hand, due to the large number of patients in Hamirpur Medical College, two patients are being treated on each bed. This means that building grand buildings or increasing the status of hospitals does not result in better health facilities, rather there is a need to develop the entire health infrastructure so that patients do not have to go to other districts and states for treatment. On the other hand, BMO of Bhoranj Civil Hospital, Dr. Lalit Kalia says that the emergency medical bed is installed in the verandah of the hospital. He told that the hospital is running in an old building and there is no gate in the hospital and due to lack of security in the hospital, dogs come in packs at night. That’s why sometimes dogs sleep on the bed too. He said that sometimes even doctors find it difficult to assign duty because dogs attack in packs. He told that he has written to higher officials for security. CMO Dr. RK Agnihotri says that there is no security arrangement in any civil hospital in the district and higher officials have been informed about this. He told that the new building of Bhoranj Hospital has been completed and now the hospital will be shifted there.
