Dombivali accident: Pragati College staff commits suicide by jumping from the fourth floor of the college building.
Maharashtra: A shocking incident occurred in Dombivali East on Thursday afternoon when a 42-year-old employee of Pragati College allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the fourth floor of the college building. He had gone with his parents to meet the principal regarding administrative and disciplinary matters.
This sudden incident, which occurred in broad daylight, spread panic throughout the college campus and left staff and students stunned.
The deceased has been identified as Praveen Chaudhary (42), a resident of Khambalpada in Thakurli. He had been working at Pragati College in Duttnagar, Dombivali East, for the past several years. According to police officials, Chaudhary had arrived at the college around 3:15 pm on Thursday afternoon with his parents to meet the principal regarding some issues related to his behavior and administrative work.
Sources said that while a discussion was going on in the principal’s office, Chaudhary suddenly left the room. Within moments, he ran to the fourth-floor balcony of the college building and jumped before anyone could stop him.
Staff rushed the victim to the hospital
A loud explosion alerted staff members and students, who rushed to the ground floor and found Chaudhary lying in a pool of blood and with serious injuries. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. However, doctors later declared him dead during treatment.
Police launch investigation
Following the incident, officers from the Ramnagar police station arrived at the scene, conducted a panchnama, and sent the body for a postmortem.
Police officials said that preliminary investigations revealed that the college administration had previously warned Chaudhary several times about his behavior and work-related problems. Consequently, his parents were called to the college to discuss the matter with the management.
It is reported that Chaudhary became enraged during the conversation. Investigators believe that he ran outside in a fit of anger and emotional distress and took this extreme step.
The tragic incident caused panic on the college campus, with students and staff gathered in shock after the fall.
Police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR), and further investigations are underway to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
